Buying a used vehicle is a big decision. And even after a test drive, sometimes you get home and realize the seat doesn't feel right, the cargo space isn't enough, or it just doesn't fit the way you imagined. We get it. That's why we built an exchange privilege into every purchase.

At Legacy Auto Credit, you don't have to be certain the moment you sign the paperwork. You have five days to make sure.

Every vehicle sold through Legacy Auto Credit comes with a 5-Day Exchange Privilege. If the vehicle doesn't feel right within the first five days of delivery or pick-up, bring it back and we'll find you something better from our inventory.

Exchange conditions:

This isn't a money-back guarantee — it's an exchange. You're working with us to find the right fit, not walking away. And that suits most customers just fine, because what they actually want is the right vehicle, not their money back.

Must be requested within 5 days of delivery or pick-up

Vehicle must be returned in the same condition as delivered — no new damage, no modifications

Standard wear and tear from normal use does not affect eligibility

We'll work with you to find a suitable replacement vehicle from our current inventory

If you purchased your vehicle 100% online — meaning you did not visit our lot, did not take a test drive, and did not see the vehicle in person before purchase — you're covered by our online purchase money-back guarantee.

Coverage:

3 days from date of delivery, or 250 kilometres — whichever comes first

Written notification (email) by 5:00 PM EST on the 3rd day from delivery date

The vehicle must still be registered in the purchaser's name as per the original paperwork

Ownership must not have been transferred to another person

No liens or encumbrances can have been registered against the vehicle

The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as delivered — no new damage, excessive wear, or modifications

Most used car dealers don't offer exchange privileges at all. Once you sign, the vehicle is yours — whatever you discover afterward.

We do things differently because we're not just trying to move inventory. We want customers who are satisfied. Satisfied customers make payments reliably, refer their friends and family, and come back for their next vehicle. That's better for everyone.

The 5-Day Exchange Privilege is also our way of saying: we're confident in the vehicles we carry. Low-kilometre, multi-point inspected, backed by a franchise-level reconditioning standard. We put it in writing because we believe in it.

Exchange Policy Questions

Can I just return the vehicle for a full refund?

It depends on how you purchased. If you bought entirely online without ever seeing or test-driving the vehicle, you may qualify for our 3-day / 250km money-back guarantee — subject to the conditions listed above. For all other purchases, the 5-Day Exchange Privilege lets you swap for a different vehicle from our inventory. We'll walk you through exactly what applies to your situation before you sign.

What counts as 'the same condition as delivered'?

We're looking for new damage, modifications, or excessive wear beyond what normal driving would cause in a few days. A little road dust or a coffee cup ring on the seat isn't going to disqualify you. We apply this reasonably and we'll discuss any questions you have upfront.

What if there's nothing in your inventory that works as an exchange?

We'll work with you to find an option. We can source vehicles through our dealer network if our current in-stock selection doesn't have the right fit. We're not looking for ways to get out of this — we're looking for ways to make it work.

Is this policy in writing?
